Beginner’s Lead Lighting for Teens

Step into the enchanting world of lead light art! In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn the fundamental techniques of creating beautiful stained-glass pieces. Whether you’re looking to start a new hobby or unleash your creativity, this class is perfect for you!

Age Group: Teens aged 14+

Duration: 11am – 4pm – 5 hours

What to Expect: – Introduction to Lead Light Art: Discover the history and beauty of lead light art. We’ll discuss various techniques, tools, and materials used in the craft, inspiring you with examples of stunning finished pieces.

Materials and Tools: Familiarise yourself with the essential tools and materials, including: – Coloured glass pieces – Lead cane – Copper foil – Glass cutter – Glass Grinder – Soldering iron – Safety equipment (gloves, goggles)

Hands-On Learning: Participants will follow step-by-step instructions to create their own lead light art piece.

You will learn: – How to safely cut glass and shape your pieces. – Techniques for assembling your design using copper foil and lead cane and soldering to secure your glass pieces together.

Creative Expression: Bring your own design ideas or choose from templates provided. Whether you want to create a simple sun catcher or a more intricate panel, this class encourages creativity and individual expression.

Once your piece is assembled, you’ll learn how to clean and finish your lead-light piece. All materials and tools will be provided, including safety equipment. Just bring your enthusiasm and creativity!

Presenter Bio

Anna Kolusniewski is a visual artist, designer and workshop facilitator with over 20 years’ experience creating engaging art programs for children, adults and community groups across Melbourne. Working through her arts practice and Aa is for Art, Anna explores a wide range of mediums, from collage and painting to textiles, ceramics and sculpture. Her hands-on, inclusive workshops encourage curiosity, experimentation and creative expression, with activities thoughtfully adapted to suit different ages, abilities and learning styles.
