6 week Studio Workshops with Sachiko Mardon
This workshop aims to develop technical skills and enable individuals to produce personalised, skilfully finished ceramic artworks.
Participants will explore various techniques, including pinch, coil, and slab-building, to craft a diverse range of vessels and sculptural pieces. The course covers clay types, surface decoration, and glazing, offering a comprehensive understanding of the ceramic process. Adult participants of all skill levels will create intricate pinch forms, construct larger coil vessels with textured surfaces, design three dimensional shapes using slab techniques, and apply glazed finishes to their artworks.
Materials and tools are included and participants need to bring an apron, tea towel or hand towel.

Presenter bio
Sachiko Mardon is a ceramic artist and educator. She discovered the medium of ceramics while studying Industrial Design at RMIT, and later completed a Master of Fine Arts (UTAS) with a focus on process-driven sculpture and installation. Using plaster moulds and handbuilding techniques, her practice involves de-constructing and re-imagining found forms, leaving traces of the process along the way.
