Weaving Workshop

Saturday, 3 May, 12-3pm

Led by Aboriginal artist and weaver Tarsha Davis, whose artwork is presented in the exhibition Big Smart, this hands-on workshop invites participants into a culturally respectful space to learn foundational weaving techniques. Grounded in process over product, the session focuses on mindful making, shared learning, and connection through creating. Participants will explore weaving not just as a creative skill, but as a way of listening, storytelling, and engaging with Country. Whether you're new to weaving or returning to it, you'll leave with practical skills, cultural insight, and the confidence to keep creating.

Tarsha Davis is a Kuku Yalanji and palawa artist based in Naarm. A multidisciplinary creative, her practice spans painting, digital art, weaving, jewellery making, and textiles. Weaving has become an important part of her work, drawing from family-taught techniques to create jewellery, baskets, and woven sculptures. Through her art, Tarsha explores connection, cultural reclamation, and advocacy, with a focus on community engagement and wellbeing outcomes.
