Social Justice Art for Teens – June 2021

Where the Incinerator Gallery comes to you

Our artist educator Francine Sculli invites you to join along with these creative social justice activities from the comfort of your own home. Please take a photo of your artworks, share your favourite social justice artist and artworks or ask your questions.

Join Incinerator Social Justice Art for Teens group on Facebook for inspiration and get connected with other young artists wanting to express their views. Use your art to raise awareness and make a difference.

Use the hashtag #IncineratorGallery so everyone can share and support each other, just as we do during the program at Incinerator Gallery.

Developing Craft

Download the printable planning sheets for this activity.

In this month’s Social Justice Art for Teens video we are zooming in on the Studio Habit of Mind – Developing Craft.

Developing Craft is about improving your use of art materials, techniques, processes, concepts and tools through practice and exploration. Through a range of different developing craft explorations, you will learn about and explore different art skills, concepts, tools and materials, develop your artistic craft and apply your newly acquired skills to social justice art challenges!

You will need:

  • drawing materials – pencils, biros, fineliners, felt tipped pens
  • eraser and blending stump
  • visual diary
  • paper
  • found objects and natural items to make your own brushes and paint
  • tablet with recording ability for the stop motion activity
