Walk to the Café: Parul Sen

13 July 2021 - 14 January 2022

Curator:

Artist(s): Parul Sen

Location: Crown Street Stables

Walk to the Café is an exploration of local history as it is seamlessly woven into our everyday lives through the role of the café. Presented as a series of digital drawings and giclée prints, Sen illustrates historic Melbourne cafés that have been converted and adapted to suit our changing times. Capturing the distinct architecture and thriving community connected with each café; Sen brings together the old with the new, the ornate with the modern, the man-made with the natural, and the traditional with the digital.

Parul Sen is a digital artist originally from Jaipur, India and has lived in Melbourne for the past 13 years. Her vibrant, decluttered style is heavily influenced by her background in graphic design and the colours of Jaipur, also known as the ‘pink city’.
