Fire, trees, and water: Michael Rigby
3 February 2022 - 30 June 2022
Curator:
Artist(s): Michael Rigby
Location: Crown Street Stables
Fire, trees, and water is a new exhibition of monotype prints by artist Michael Rigby, exploring the transformation of natural landscapes, cities, and towns altered by human and environmental pressures.
Observing dramatic shifts at a macro and micro level, Rigby uses his skills in tone, line, and gesture that reflect both the human hand and the mechanical artefacts of the printing press.
The artist seeks to impart an understanding of the interdependence that exists between humans and the surrounding environment through intimate works, created with humanity in both heart and mind.
Michael Rigby is a Melbourne-based artist and designer working across paint, print and photographic media. His interests in mark-making, representation, German/Japanese aesthetics, and spirituality have led him to explore the connections between body, mind and heart, beingness, and the narratives we create across space-time.
