Unleash your child’s creative energy these school holidays through a series of fun and interactive arts workshops.
Children will work alongside professional artists and educators to imagine, make, create and express themselves.
Morning sessions for 5 to 8 year olds require one adult carer (free of charge) to remain with them during the program. Cost is $19.50 per child.
- 5 to 8 years (with an accompanying adult carer, free) from 10.30am to 12 noon, or;
- 7 to 14 years (unaccompanied – parents need to complete an enrolment form when leaving their child) from 1pm to 3pm.
Book online or call 8325 1750 to ask your questions about the program. Bookings for the spring holidays open 16 August.
The Bird Tones
Tuesday, 24 September
Inspired by the elegant shapes of birds, children will learn how to mix colours and create tonal variations to paint an expressive avian portrait. Experienced educator-artist Ben Guy leads this fun and interactive workshop with each child making their own beautiful painted canvas.
Wednesday, 25 September
Work with artist Kathy Holowko to create a creature sculpture using simple art materials. Children choose the attributes they want their creature to have. It can waddle or fly, jump or run. Children think about the creature’s habitat to ensure it has a safe home to go to. Experiment with choosing colours and mixing paint to create a camouflage skin so the creature can blend into its environment.
DIY View-Master Reels
Thursday, 26 September
In this workshop each child will design their own seven panelled mini story that can be viewed on a View-Master. Working with artist Emilie Walsh participants will storyboard a short narrative that can be drawn across the seven slides of the reel or simply experiment and play with colour, line, and shape.
