Tama Sharman in studio, photography by Lisa White 2020

Suitable for families

Artist Tama Sharman invites us to meet Ariki—the wooden puppet. In this workshop, participants are guided through experimental approaches to puppet-making, inspired by characters in his exhibition Dark Sepia. Participants may playfully learn skills together, exploring creative approaches to recycled materials and new ideas of learning.

Tama encourages you to bring in a small piece of material to add to your puppet—a clipping from a newspaper, an object found on the ground, or a swath of colourful fabric. All other puppet materials will be provided.

1 to 3pm, Sunday, 15 March

Free – bookings essential as group size is limited
