Glass artist Bethany Wheeler delivers a series of glass fusing and slumping workshops for participants to explore glass kiln forming through their tutored creation of glass coasters, jewellery, suncatchers and tableware.
Bethany will demonstrate how to design each kind of glassware, how to cut glass and the basics of fusing and slumping glass in the kiln and how to finish off pieces with at home once the glass is fired.
Participants may attend one or all sessions.
These workshops are designed for adults.
For your safety, please wear closed-toe shoes to this program.
For all classes: please bring these materials:
- 300 x 300 x .3mm single sheet of clear Oceanside compatible fusing glass
- safety goggles or eye shields (worn over prescription glasses)
- sketch book
- pencil
- pencil sharpener
- eraser
- water bottle
This workshop includes firing. Ticket buyers will be notified via email when the finished artworks are available for collection.
On presentation of ticket at Axess Glass, 12 Charnfield Court Thomastown Glass Fusing Workshop students will be entitled to receive a 10% discount on purchases.

Glass Jewellery

12.30 to 3.30pm, Saturday, 2 April 2022
in this class you will learn how to make wearable fused glass jewellery in the kiln. Pieces can include neckpieces, earrings and brooches.
Bethany will demonstrate how to cut glass and the basics of fusing glass in the kiln and how you can finish off pieces with your own findings at home once the glass is fired.
Students should supply their own sheet of clear Oceanside compatible fusing glass as a base and will have access to a range of Oceanside 96 transparent and opaque glasses, and as well as frit and stringers.
Glass Mobiles, Suncatchers or Wall Hangings

The focus of this class is to create fused glass pieces for hanging by incorporating metal hooks into the glass. These could be elements for mobiles, wall hangings or suncatchers.

Glass Sushi Set

12.30 to 3.30pm, Saturday, 18 June 2022
The focus of this class is to create fused and slumped sushi plate with accompanying dipping bowl and chopstick rest.
Bethany will demonstrate how to cut glass and the basics of fusing glass in the kiln and how to design and produce your own sushi set.
Students should supply their own sheet of clear Oceanside compatible fusing glass as a base and will have access to a range of Oceanside 96 transparent and opaque glasses, and as well as frit and stringers.

Glass Coasters

12.30 to 3.30pm, Saturday, 12 February 2022
The focus of this class is to create a set of fused glass coasters or tiles in the kiln. Bethany will demonstrate how to cut glass and the basics of fusing glass in the kiln. Students should supply their own sheet of clear as a base and will have access to a range of selected Oceanside fusing glass in transparent and opaque sheet and a range of frit and stringers.
